This package is designed for young adults (18+), especially those heading to college. It includes a will and crucial authorizations that enable parents to make decisions for their child and access important medical and educational information in case of incapacitation. This package helps familiarize young adults with estate planning and the importance of maintaining a will throughout their lifetime.
The package includes a will, power of attorney, medical power of attorney, HIPAA Authorization, and FERPA authorization. HIPAA, or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, protects personal health data, while FERPA, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, safeguards the privacy of student education records. These rights, typically given to parents, transfer to the student upon reaching 18 or attending post-high school education.
Premium Young Adult Package
The following are included with this package:
- A 15-minute initial phone or Zoom consultation if there is a question about the questionnaire or other issues that need to be addressed prior to drafting.
- Drafting of the following documents based on your questionnaire and any personal consultation: (1) a Will, (2) a Power of Attorney, (3) a Medical Power of Attorney, (4) a Physician’s Directive, (5) a HIPAA Authorization, and (6) a FERPA Authorization.
- Review and editing of draft documents to make sure your documents meet your desires and needs.
- Signing/Execution of the completed documents at our office in Westlake or at one of our other Austin-area locations (Circle C, Lake Pointe, etc.). We ensure your documents are properly signed and correctly executed.
- The notarization fees are included in the purchase price if the signing occurs at our locations and per our normal schedule.
The following are not included:
- For expedited or unusual signing scheduling demands (short notice, odd times outside of our norms, or an unusual location), there are additional charges, including a fee for the notary. The notary fee is $10.00 per acknowledgment (signature). A typical estate planning package will have seven acknowledgments, which equates to a fee of $70.00 per person (so for a married couple, it will be $140.00).
- For wills, two witnesses are required. The client is responsible for bringing their own witnesses. If the Client desires the Attorney to make arrangements for witnesses, we can do that. However, there is a $40 per witness fee that is paid to the witnesses. These witness fees is not included in the purchase price.
- All edits or revisions after the second substantive revision are $100 each.
- All additional fees must be paid at the time of signing.
